Call for Contributors!

We are Growing!

The Adoptee Bookshelf is currently a one-person labor of love dedicated to uplifting adoptee voices, reviewing adoptee-centered literature, and supporting educators, librarians, and readers who seek deeper, more authentic representation of adoptees in books.

I am looking to work with passionate collaborators and contributors who believe in the mission and want to help build something powerful — something vibrant and community-centered!

WHO I’M LOOKING FOR

Contributors who identify as:

  • Adoptees (domestic, international, transracial, foster care, kinship, etc.)
  • Foster care alumni
  • Birth Mothers
  • Educators, librarians, and/or adoption professionals who hold one of the above identities
(You do NOT need to be a professional writer — just someone with heart and interest.

WAYS TO CONTRIBUTE

The opportunities to collaborate are endless. If you have an idea for how to make this platform better, reach out! Ideas for collaboration are below:

  • Book reviewers (MG, YA, Adult — fiction or nonfiction)
  • Essay/op-ed writers on identity, representation, lived experience
  • Listmakers (“10 MG Books Exploring Identity,” “YA Books Featuring Foster Characters,” etc.)
  • Resource creators for educators & librarians
  • Behind-the-scenes helpers (editing, outreach, graphics, communications)

COMMITMENT

Completely flexible.
You can contribute:

  • One piece
  • Monthly
  • Seasonally
  • Or on your own schedule

This is a collaborative, community-centered project, not a high-pressure environment.

WHY JOIN?

  • Elevate adoptee-centered storytelling
  • Build community
  • Gain experience in reviewing, writing, digital media, or advocacy
  • Help shape a platform that doesn’t exist anywhere else
  • Become a foundational part of something growing, meaningful, and needed
